Description of Aile d’Argent 2023 – Chateau Mouton Rothschild’s White Wine:

Aile d’Argent 2023 – The mild, rainy winter of 2022-2023 replenished the soils following a dry year in 2022. The vine cycle began smoothly in early April, despite a minor frost episode. The trend for 2023 to be one of the warmest on record was confirmed as the year progressed. The mild weather, coupled with near-normal spring rainfall, accelerated plant growth. In this favorable climate, flowering commenced perfectly at the end of May, five days ahead of schedule. June broke records as the hottest month since 1962, with vines maintaining a healthy lead in development.

While France faced successive heatwaves, the Atlantic coast and Bordeaux vineyards experienced only two extreme heat episodes at the end of August and early September, marking the beginning of the harvest. During harvest, unstable weather alternated between hot, sunny days and storms. Grapes matured optimally, benefiting from the rainfall to enhance skin quality and slow sugar accumulation. The last week of September provided ideal conditions to conclude the 2023 harvest.

Tasting Notes: Aile d’Argent 2023 exhibits a pale yellow hue with green highlights. It is intense and expressive, offering aromas of citrus and white fruit, evolving into exotic, mineral, and white pepper notes. Fresh and tangy with hints of lemon and spice, the wine becomes more unctuous, revealing flavors of Viennese pastry, feijoa, and apricot. Delicate toasted and grilled notes harmoniously accompany the finish.

Harvest: August 29 to September 6

Area Under Production: 9 hectares

Average Vine Age: 14 years
