The finesse and balance of a Pauillac red wine

The estate: Chateau Lafite-Rothschild stands as the premier Bordeaux Cru Classé since 1855, commanding its gravelly soils with authority. Rooted in a long wine-growing tradition dating back to 1620, it has evolved into an emblematic figure of the Pauillac appellation on Bordeaux’s Left Bank. From Cardinal de Richelieu to former U.S. President Thomas Jefferson, influential figures across the globe have succumbed to the allure of these exceptional wines, renowned for their distinct character and unmatched refinement.

The vineyard: Château Lafite-Rothschild 2022 epitomizes a Pauillac wine sourced from terroirs of extraordinary distinction. The vineyard spans three primary zones: the slopes surrounding the château, the Carruades plateau to the west, and a plot in the neighboring commune of Saint-Estèphe. Here, vines thrive in deep, fine gravel soils overlaid with sandy surfaces, while the limestone subsoil ensures impeccable drainage.

Winemaking and ageing: Harvesting occurred from August 31 to September 24, with fermentation lasting 17 to 18 days, followed by gentle pressing.

Blend: Château Lafite-Rothschild 2022 comprises a blend dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon (94%), complemented by Merlot (5%), and a touch of Petit Verdot (1%).
