Chateau Leoville Barton 2023 Description:

Owned by the Barton family since 1826, Chateau Leoville Barton spans 50 hectares of gravelly soil overlaying clay subsoil. The vineyard boasts an average vine age of 38 years and uses new barrels for 60% of its aging process.

In the 19th century, the Léoville estate, located in the Saint-Julien appellation, was one of the largest estates. It was later divided into three estates: Chateau Leoville Las Cases, Chateau Leoville Barton, and Chateau Leoville Poyferre. Part of the Léoville estate was purchased in 1826 by the Irishman Hugh Barton, marking the birth of Château Léoville Barton, still owned by the Barton family. The finesse of its wines led to its classification as a 2nd Grand Cru during the 1855 classification.
