The finesse and richness of a great Margaux wine

The estate: Chateau Palmer shines brightly in the Margaux appellation, situated on the Left Bank of Bordeaux. Embracing biodynamic viticulture in 2009, Château Palmer took the momentous decision to transition its entire vineyard by 2014. With a legendary reputation forged by iconic vintages, Château Palmer continues to script its narrative under the stewardship of the talented Thomas Duroux.

The vineyard: Château Palmer 2022 is crafted from grapes sourced from an exceptional terroir nestled alongside the Gironde estuary. Uncommon grape varieties for the Médoc dominate Château Palmer’s vineyards, primarily Merlot (47%), complemented by equal portions of Cabernet Sauvignon (47%) and Petit Verdot (6%).

The vintage: Moderate winter rainfall was followed by an early spring marked by frost from April 2 to 5, which minimally impacted the vines and their growth cycle. Flowering commenced on May 18 amidst hot, dry conditions and progressed swiftly. Beneficial thunderstorms at the end of June mitigated the heat, but a notably parched, scorching summer ensued, affecting yields, particularly for younger vines. Mid-August rainfall bolstered ripening. Despite their petite size, the grapes ripened perfectly, revealing exceptional tannic structure, nuanced balance, and a delicate fusion of potency and harmony.

Blend: Château Palmer 2022 comprises Cabernet Sauvignon (51%), Merlot (45%), and Petit Verdot (4%).
